Soccer Fury was meant to be a F2P football game for PC. The game concept is a street football competition between superpowered players, inspired on the movie Shaolin Soccer. The game was going to be published by NCsoft, a big player in the Eastern F2P game industry. NCsoft wanted to introduce F2P games to the western markets, and started several projects for that purpose
The project was marred by several bad early choices, specially on the gameplay side. Some early systems were more appropriate for a soccer simulation than for an arcade soccer game. Though the early game was inspired by FIFA Street, we found out that the game closest to the early concept (Shaolin Soccer) was, in fact, a Nintendo game, Super Mario Strikers.
Soccer Fury was cancelled after a year or so of development. It taught me an important lesson when scoping the initial gameplay of a project: Know your genre!
